Upon arrival at Phnom Penh airport, you are warmly welcomed by our tour-friendly tour guide and then transferred to the hotel for check-in. (Standard check-in an hour is 2:00 PM; early check-in subject to availability with a surcharge).

In the afternoon, we will start our tour with the Royal Palace compound, the most conspicuous feature and one of the impressive, colorful Khmer-style palaces. Silver Pagoda (The Emerald Buddha temple) displays many Buddha statues decorated and made of diamond, emerald, gold, and silver. Continue to visit the National Museum. The distinctive red building with beautiful Khmer architecture was built in 1917 and contains more than 5000 art objects made of sandstone, bronze, silver, copper, wood, and others. The last stop at Wat Phnom, the legend of Phnom Penh.

 

Evening, transfer to enjoy a Sunset Cruise by the joined rivers between the Mekong & Tonle Basic rivers. Witnessing the spectacular view of Phnom Penh during sunset and nighttime was a good, memorable experience you shouldn’t miss during your visit to the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. After the cruise, transfer to dinner at a local restaurant and then return to the hotel.

Today, cycle along the Mekong trail and witness the unique culture, beautiful scenery, and vibrant local life on the various islands. From traditional villages to farmland, there is something for everyone to enjoy when exploring this incredible trail.

 

At 7:30 AM, our guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby and transfer you to the bike shop to pick up your bike and helmet; then, start biking to board the ferry going to Silk Island or Mekong Island. Once you arrive, prepare for an exciting cycling adventure that will take you through the countryside and farming villages of Phnom Penh. Be ready to experience and observe the local culture and way of life and enjoy some breathtaking views of the rural landscape!

 

We will take a visit to the unique craft of silk weaving. Our local villagers will be able to provide you with an authentic insight into the history of silk weaving in Cambodia. This tradition has been passed down through generations from parent to child. This is an incredible opportunity to learn more about the culture of this country and experience its rich heritage firsthand. After the tours, return to Phnom Penh and drop off your bike, then transfer to have a buffet lunch at Tonle Bassac Restaurant.

 

Afternoon travel to the outskirts of the city (30-minute drive) to visit Tuol Sleng prison (Genocide Museum) was the most secret organ of the Khmer Rouge regime. S-21 stands for “Security Office 21.” it was Angkar’s premier security institution, specifically designed to interrogate and exterminate anti-Angkar elements. Continue to visit Choeung Ek museum; between 1975 and 1978, about 17,000 men, women, children, and infants detained and tortured at S-21 prison were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek. Next, we will take a short stop for a photograph at the Independent Monument. Then, drive along Sothearos Blvd for a city view and a quick visit for a walk to enjoy the fresh air at Chaktomouk River Bank. Transfer back to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.

At 8:00 AM, pick up by our guide and driver for a private overland transfer to Battambang Province (291 Km, approximately a five hour drive).

 

On the way, we will stop and discover the abandoned royal city of Udong (early 17th century) and enjoy the fantastic countryside view from the top of the hill. Continue the road to Kampong Chhnang, the largest fishing port in Tonlé Sap, whose waters are among the most fishy in the world. Embark on traditional boats to discover the floating village of Kampong Loung, which is authentic because it is still little frequented by tourists. Lunch at a local restaurant. Departure for the town of Pursat, famous for its sculptures on stone. Continue the road to Battambang, a charming provincial town, then check in at the hotel.

 

In the evening, you will experience a ride on a Bamboo Train, a fun experience and an excellent opportunity to see the sunset in the countryside. It’s like a childhood dream come true. Dinner at a local restaurant, and transfer back to the hotel.

Morning: Local livelihoods cycling – half day

 

Going around by bicycle is an excellent way of connecting you with the local community. Just north of Battambang, there is a perfect opportunity to discover and experience many of the traditional cottage industries of the region. This will provide you with a real taste of authentic Cambodian village life. In addition, it will allow you to interact with rural families, making a living farming in the countryside.

 

The activities you can observe include making banana chips, manufacturing rice paper, distilling rice wine, and tasting tropical/seasonal fruits. Our enthusiastic guide will be on hand every step of the way to enhance your experience by explaining what you see in more depth.

 

A tuk-tuk will pick you up from a hotel and drop you at the Battambang bike office before 8:00 am; try out a bike fitted – ensure all the bikes work correctly with a quick introduction about a guide and safety briefing.

 

Our cycling route will include many stops as follows:

 

Stop1: Rice Noodle, Stop 2: Bamboo Sticky Rice, Stop 3: Wat Samrong Knong (Buddhist pagoda), Stop 4: Fish Paste Market (formation), Stop 5: Rice Wine (local whisky), Stop 6: Dried Banana (banana chips), Stop 7: Rice Paper (spring roll), Stop 8: Crocodile Farm.

Afternoon, transfer to Siem Reap. The distance is 170 km, which takes around 3 to 4 hours. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, we will directly transfer you to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy dinner with the Apsara Dance Show at a local restaurant.

Morning visit to the antique capital of Angkor Thom start from the South Gate with its giant statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, the Bayon Temple, unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Continue to visit the jungle Ta Prohm Temple, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. The temple of Ta Prohm was once used as a location to film the famous Hollywood film, Tomb Raider.

 

In the afternoon, explore Angkor Wat, the most famous temple on the plain of Angkor. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag, and art historians consider the 12th-century masterpiece the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Optional: Sunset Quad Bike Ride – 1 Hour (Every day 5pm-6pm)

 

One of our most popular tours starts every day at 5 pm. After a short safety briefing and familiarization training ride, you will head out to the rice fields surrounding Siem Reap. The ride will go past several local villages, where you can see how people live in the Cambodian countryside. Our guides will recommend the best stops for stunning sunset photos.

 

During the trip, you will be accompanied by our guides on motorbike. The tour finishes at Cambodia Quad Bike office after you wash the mud off your feet and take a refreshing drink.

Overnight Hotel in Siem Reap 

At 7:30 AM, our village tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby (Hotel in Siem Reap) and transfer you by Tuk Tuk to Mae Ry Homestay, located in Koksrok Village Bakong district, about 20km from the city. Before reaching our village home, we will drive past rice fields, some picturesque small villages, schools, and some local farmer or kid activities. When you arrive in the town, our guide will introduce you to the local family and walk you through the house to familiarize you and witness how the local family lives. Then we will go to a local market for fresh meat, fish, and vegetables to prepare our meal today. After visiting the market, we drive back home to prepare our lunch. You will learn by observing how our villagers prepare meals for you. You may engage and get hands-on training on how to cook your meal from our homeowner.

 

After cooking, please wash your hands, prepare your freshly cooked meal, and enjoy it. After lunch, you will take some rest on a traditional hammock. Then, we will start our village tour by biking around the village, and finally, you will ride in an oxcart to witness some local village activities such as farming, growing vegetables, or fishing.

 

If you wish to get yourself dirty and experience how hard the local life was in their daily life, you are also welcome to participate with them.

 

You may also visit the local school pagoda and get some monk blessings for good luck if time permits. (If you do monk blessings, we recommend you to give some small donations to the pagoda). If you wish to make school donations, you can inform our guide beforehand for advice and preparation.

 

After a day in the fields, you will return to the local family home to wash your hands and have fresh coconut juice before transferring back to your hotel in Siem Reap for drop-off. You should arrive at your hotel around 5:00 pm.

Evening, enjoy a Cambodia circus of Phare (SEAT B), Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic, top-rated evening entertainment. Morning, drive to Kbal Spean. Upon arrival, we will walk uphill 45 minutes through the forest to the top of the hill to reach Kbal Spean, the “Thousand Linga River.” Discover the 10th – 12th-century sculptures chiseled into the rocky riverbed, the Royal Bath, and the waterfall. Walk back to the ground of the mountain, then transfer to have lunch at a local restaurant.

 

After the lunch break, transfer to Phnom Penh, with a driving distance of about 300km, takes you approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, Phnom Penh transfers directly to have dinner at a local restaurant before dropping off at the hotel overnight.
