Start your day early with a visit to Wat Pho, where you can witness the monks’ serene morning chanting ritual. After this uplifting and often private experience, explore the temple grounds, including the famous 45-meter reclining Buddha. Next, continue to the Grand Palace, Thailand’s most significant landmark, where the grandeur and majesty of its architecture and throne halls will leave you in awe. Then, marvel at the mysterious Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s most revered Buddha image.

 

In the afternoon, board a long-tail boat to sail up the majestic Chao Phraya River before entering the Khlong, taking you off the typical tourist trail. Inside the network of Khlongs, stop at Wat Khun Chan, an interesting temple rarely visited by tourists. After crossing a small footbridge, stroll through the old alleys where you can enjoy a cold coffee before visiting Wat Paknam, known for its white stupa with a hidden museum. Return to the boat and continue along a scenic part of the Khlong, where you’ll see a mix of old wooden houses and modern mansions, before reaching an orchid and fruit farm. Here, you’ll have time to explore the many orchid varieties on display. On the way back to Saphan Taksin pier, stop to feed the holy catfish in the Khlong.

The tour begins with a visit to the Mae Klong Railway Market, a unique country market set up along active train tracks. When a train approaches, vendors quickly clear their stalls, only to reset them moments later once the train has passed. The journey continues to the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. While it is quite touristy today, the market remains one of the best examples of how floating markets operated decades ago. A relaxing paddle boat ride through the maze of canals provides a view of the older parts of the market and the local lifestyle along the canal. After the boat ride, enjoy a stroll around the colorful marketplace, bustling with boats and vendors selling tropical fruits and other local delights.

 

For visits on Saturdays or Sundays, there is an option to explore either Damnoen Saduak or the smaller, less touristy Tha Kha Floating Market, where a short paddle boat tour through the backwaters includes a visit to a traditional Thai house making coconut palm sugar.

 

Next, transfer to Kanchanaburi for a visit to the World War II memorial, including the cemetery. Lunch will be served at a floating restaurant next to the Kwai River Bridge. Next, transfer to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand. Upon arrival, hop on a Kermit tuk-tuk—these charming vehicles are unique to Ayutthaya and Trang. During the ride, explore the city’s temple highlights, including Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (with its iconic Buddha face entwined in tree roots), and a stroll through a local market on the way to Wat Phra Srisanphet.

After breakfast, depart for Uthai Thani via Lopburi. Visit King Narai’s Palace, built by King Narai the Great, who ruled Ayutthaya from 1656 to 1688. He ordered the palace constructed in 1666 and spent about 8 to 9 months a year there, except during the rainy season. King Narai designated Lopburi as the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The palace served as a site for relaxation, hunting, administrative duties, and welcoming official visitors.

 

Enjoy lunch before continuing the journey to Uthai Thani. En route, stop at Ban Khok Mo village, where traditional weaving remains an important activity. Visit the remarkable Thasung Temple, known for its “Crystal Hall.” Then, take a boat ride on the beautiful Sakaekrang River, famous for its floating houses. Today, you will take a 45-minute drive to Hub Patthard. There, you will cross a cave that leads to a small hidden valley. Next, visit another significant site in Thai history: Kamphaeng Phet. This archaeological park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Phra Tat, and the Aranyik Archaeological Site.

 

Continuing along beautiful country roads, you will stop in Phitsanulok to visit the Cha Tawee Folk Museum and the riverside temple of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, which houses one of the most sacred Buddha images in Thailand. From there, we will continue on to the city of Sukhothai for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will be picked up and transferred to the parking area, where we will start cycling to visit Sukhothai Historical Park, which contains nearly 200 well-preserved chedis. First, we will visit the Ajan Buddha image and learn about the legend of the spoken Buddha at Wat Sri Chum. Next, we will cycle to Wat Prapailuang, the center of the community before the establishment of the Sukhothai Kingdom.

 

We will then visit Wat Sri Sawai, Wat Sra Sri, and Wat Trapang Ngoen.

 

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Lampang, a charming city for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, one of the finest examples of Lanna-style architecture in Thailand. Its viharns, which are open on all sides, exemplify early Lanna design. While some temples have been restored using modern materials and techniques, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang has been preserved in its original state. Founded in the 13th century, its name translates to “the temple of Lampang’s Great Buddha Relic.” The architecture reflects a blend of Lanna and Thai Lü styles. After the visit, we will take a 30-minute horse-cart ride through the city and nearby villages.

After breakfast, we depart for northern Thailand, a beautiful area characterized by wooded mountains. This morning, you will explore the surroundings, starting with the road that leads to Mae Salong. As you climb up and down the green hills, covered with tea plantations, you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious tea produced by one of the many local plantations.

 

From Doi Mae Salong, you will visit two ethnic minority villages: the Akha village of Loyo and the Lisu village of Ban Hanygo. Afterward, you will visit the Mae Fah Luang Botanical Garden.

In the morning, we will visit the Opium Museum and Thaton, a pleasant site dominated by a beautiful Buddha. You will also visit Wat Thaton temple. Next, we will be transferred to the mountainous district of Fang and ascend to Mount Doi Angkhang. Lunch will be provided along the way.

 

After lunch, visit the Royal Project Station at Doi Angkhang, where flowers and fruits characteristic of cold climates are cultivated. We will also visit the hill tribe village of Ban Khum.

We will depart for Chiang Mai via Chiang Dao, where we will visit the Chiang Dao Cave. This cave features four interconnected caverns, so be prepared to bend down and possibly crawl between the incredible stalactites.
