Vietnam extends visa-free travel for citizens of 3 European countries
The Government of Vietnam has issued Resolution No. 11 regarding visa exemptions as part of a tourism stimulus program for 2025, targeting citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.
Under this resolution, citizens of these three countries will be granted a 45-day visa exemption from their date of entry for tourism purposes, specifically for tours organized by international travel agencies operating in Vietnam. This exemption applies to all passport types, provided the entrants meet all other entry requirements stipulated by Vietnamese law.
This visa-free policy for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland will be in effect from March 1st, 2025, to December 31st, 2025, within the framework of the 2025 tourism stimulus program.
Prior to this [Resolution 11], according to Resolution 128/NQ-CP, Vietnam officially implemented a 45-day visa exemption for citizens of 13 countries: South Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Belarus. This visa exemption applies regardless of passport type or purpose of entry.
According to data released by the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in 2024 reached 17.6 million, an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2023 and equivalent to 98% of the pre-pandemic peak in 2019.
South Korea remains the top source market for Vietnam, followed by China, Taiwan (China), and the United States.
