Laos relaxes visa requirements to boost tourism in 2024
According to the recent Lao Ministry of Public Security announcement, citizens from eight European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Greece, are exempt from visa requirements for up to 15-day visit in Laos.
The country has lengthened the stay period of a multiple-entry visa from 30 days to 60 days for those from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
Tourists from Thailand traveling in groups with passports and temporary border passes are now allowed to stay in Laos for up to 10 days, longer than the previous limit of three days. Additionally, they can visit three provinces adjacent to their original arrival points.
This policy, which starts on July 1, 2024, is part of implementing a relaxed visa policy to attract international arrivals and unlock tourism potential through the “Visit Laos 2024” program.
Cindy Nguyen, 365 Travel’s CEO, shares: “We’re excited about the new relaxed visa policy. With easier visa access and longer stays, Laos is becoming an even more exciting destination. At 365 Travel, we can’t wait to offer travel experiences and tour packages, helping more customers discover the beauty and culture of Laos.”
